Australians can now get the morning after pill delivered straight to their door.
Women’s health service provider Youly has launched the country’s first ever same day pharmacy-to-door delivery of emergency contraception.
The online health platform is designed to eliminate the time-consuming, awkward or confronting conversations women face just to gain access to the treatments or prescriptions they need.
Requests for the morning after pill are reviewed and approved by a pharmacist, who will conduct a text-based consult if further information is required prior to the medication delivery, avoiding the need to make a doctor’s appointment.

Dr Katherine Hanks said the service will empower more women to take control of their health and contraception without the apprehension that can be associated with going to their general practitioner or pharmacy.
‘Youly’s services are so useful for women – especially young women – who can be nervous or embarrassed when discussing their sexual health with pharmacists and doctors, and as a result can miss out on important healthcare,’ Dr Hanks said.
‘This service removes a lot of barriers by providing a discreet, safe and convenient way of looking after their health needs.’
Youly founder Nic Blair said he hopes the service will put an end to the awkward questions women face about their sex life when they are standing at the counter of a pharmacy waiting to buy something as common as a morning after pill.

The provider also offers the delivery of the contraceptive pill, treatment of HSV-1 cold sores, HSV-2 herpes simplex virus and thrush
‘We don’t believe women of any age should be required to have an uncomfortable experience when it comes to obtaining emergency contraception, yet the current process for many women is certainly that,’ he said.
‘I have heard countless stories of women having bad experiences, so we set out to see how we could change this and I’m proud to say that we have.’
The provider also offers the delivery of the contraceptive pill, treatment of HSV-1 cold sores, HSV-2 herpes simplex virus and thrush.
To ensure suitability to access the service, patients are asked to complete an online health questionnaire with requests for the contraceptive pill and HSV-1 and 2 reviewed by qualified Australian doctors who may conduct a consult via text if further information is required.
The emergency contraception delivery service is now available to residents in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and the Sunshine Coast, with new locations being added weekly.
