Married At First Sight’s Jack Dunkley has broken his silence on claims he broke up with his ex-girlfriend to appear on the Channel Nine dating series.

The 34-year-old personal trainer insists he didn’t end his relationship in pursuit of reality TV fame, and genuinely decided to take part in the experiment to find everlasting love.

Jack came under fire this week when his former partner Courtney Jade accused him of breaking up with her under the guise of a ‘work opportunity in America,’ only for her to discover he was starring on MAFS.

He says he wasn’t surprised Courtney spoke out, and he was fully transparent with his TV bride Tori Adams about his ex very early on in the experiment.

‘It wasn’t a surprise. I had a feeling that my ex was going to go rogue at some point and probably sell something to the media,’ Jack told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday.

‘Tori was all over it.

‘I think I discussed it with her day two or day three of meeting her and caught her up to speed with my latest relationship and where it was and how I couldn’t get away from the communications even though I wasn’t responding,’

Dunkley has also addressed claims he is just a ‘f**k boy,’ a term he says has haunted his journey in finding love.

He says his portrayal of a man search for lasting love on the show is accurate, and he wants to distance himself from the frivolities in his early twenties.

‘I’m not an F boy,’ he vehemently stated.

‘I told the cameras that’s not who I am and my story, my real story is actually the fact that I am misunderstood and that’s why I thought I struggled to find love because everyone does look at me and think I’m not ready to settle down because I do have this look about me and the way I hold myself.’

Daily Mail Australia understands that Jack has since reached out to Courtney to apologise for not being transparent and add clarity to the breakup. He wishes her nothing but the best for her future.

This week Dunkley’s ex admitted she was feeling distressed while watching his ‘marriage’ play out on TV.

‘It’s been a very hard time in my life. One that I don’t wish on anyone,’ she told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday.

‘I hope this doesn’t continue to happen to other people. It was a horrible experience and not something I want to talk about.’

Courtney then posted an emotionally charged statement to her Instagram stories.

She said she was heartbroken Jack is set to air dirty laundry about their breakup on the popular TV show.

‘I hope everyone gets some sickening entertainment out of my horrid breakup on Channel Nine,’ she vented.

‘I have no comment in regards to MAFS, so would appreciate it if media and all forms of communication would leave me in peace.’

She also disclosed her ongoing personal struggles following their split, revealing she has been forced to go on medication and regularly see a psychologist.

‘I have been seeing a therapist and have been medicated due to the disgusting trauma I have experienced and would like to be left alone to heal,’ she said.

Courtney explained the fact their breakup is set to play out so publicly has made things a lot harder to process.

‘It’s one thing to go through a breakup, but it’s another thing to have to relive it on nationwide TV and talk about it,’ she added.

‘Enjoy watching the fame hungry humans that ruin lives and create nothing but pain. I am embarrassed by the world we live in and am absolutely mortified by my experience.’

Questioning the premise of the show, she asked ‘Creating love or creating monsters?’ before appealing for her privacy to be respected.

Married At First Sight continues on Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine.
