Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Michelle and Dakota both looked back on the film and their impressions of each other then.

“I was so excited, just selfishly, to see her,” Michelle said of their reunion for The First Lady.

She recalled that Dakota was “such a marvel at six. She was just a marvel … I would watch her work and I would think, ‘What planet is this little actress from?’ Because she would just channel things…and I was curious to see if she could still do that. And she can. And she can and I’m so jealous. And we just had so much fun.”

“We loved working on it and it was such an honor to be a part of it, but it wasn’t easy,” Michelle continued, speaking of the Showtime series.

She and Dakota said that they re-bonded over pizza, “lots of laughs [and] lots of wine.”

“I’ve always held Michelle on this really special pedestal because she was the first actress I ever worked with,” Dakota added. “So, just getting to know her as an adult — and spend time with her and work with her — was such an unbelievable experience.”

The First Lady will premiere on Showtime on Sunday, April 17 – watch the trailer here!
