Olympic ski racer Bode Miller and his wife Morgan Beck have announced that they are pregnant with their sixth child, just 18 months after the birth of their twin sons and three years on from the tragic drowning of their 19-month-old daughter Emeline.

Olympic ski racer Bode Miller and his wife Morgan Beck have announced that they are pregnant with their sixth child, just 18 months after the birth of their twin sons – and three years on from the tragic drowning of their 19-month-old daughter Emeline.

The couple shared their joyful news on Wednesday afternoon, revealing that their baby is due to arrive in November, while admitting that both of them are hoping for a girl to join their brood of boys.

Bode, 43, and Morgan, 34, have had five other children together, however in 2018, they suffered the devastating loss of their daughter Emmy, who died after a drowning accident in their neighbor’s swimming pool.

In the years since her passing, the couple has become outspoken about the dangers of childhood drownings, while continuing to open up about how their family has tried to come to terms with the loss.

Both Bode and Morgan insist that Emmy can never be ‘replaced’, however they explained that they ‘wanted to try for a girl’ because they felt as though they still have ‘so much more love to give’.

‘After losing Emmy, we both felt like we wanted to try for a girl,’ Bode told People. ‘You know, there’s obviously no replacing kids.’

‘When you lose someone like that, when you lose a child, you really recognize how special [that parent-child relationship] is,’ Morgan added.

‘And not that we were ungrateful for what we had, our kids are absolutely incredible. But we just had so much more love to give and we had so much more love we wanted to give.’

The newborn baby will be a younger sibling to the couple’s four sons – Nash, six, Easton, two, and 18-month-old twins Asher and Aksel – as well as Bode’s two other children from previous relationships, daughter Dace, 13, and son Nate, eight.

And according to both Bode and Morgan, their newest arrival will also be their last, with the former Olympic skier insisting: ‘We’re finally on our last pregnancy. We’re at the finish line.’

‘Kids require a lot of attention and a lot of love,’ his wife chimed in. ‘We have a lot of attention and a lot of love to give, but we feel like this will be the last one for us to be able to put all of ourselves into. So that way, all of them still get a bunch of love and attention. And we’re not stretching ourselves too thin.’

After the arrival of their identical twin sons, who were born in November 2019, Bode admitted that the couple thought ‘maybe that’s the end for us’, however they agreed to try for one more child together in order to fill the ‘space they still have in their hearts to give more love’.

The couple have scheduled a gender reveal for next week, with Morgan revealing on her Instagram Stories that they have arranged to have ‘confetti poppers’ delivered to them, which they will use to find out the sex of their unborn child on May 23.

In his own Instagram post, Bode paid tribute to his ‘incredible’ wife while sharing the news of their pregnancy, saying: ‘Cats outta the bag: we’re at the finish line. Excited to announce that Miller baby ocho is due in November!

‘@morganebeck you are beyond incredible.’

In their interview with People, the couple revealed that they are planning another home birth for their unborn child – having welcomed their twin boys in their family house back in November 2019.

But while Morgan described the experience of giving birth to her sons in her own house as ‘incredible’, their arrival was not without its difficulties.

In February last year, the proud parents shared intimate details and images from the birth, revealing that Bode’s mom Jo Kenney had to lend a helping hand with the delivery after the midwives failed to arrive on time.

‘I’m sharing because I want you to see we women are bad** mothers and our bodies are beautiful,’ Morgan explained at the time. ‘It’s a scary emotional ride but damn, we are capable of so much more than we even know.’

She then proceeded to share videos and photos from the birth, explaining that the twin boys arrived a lot quicker than she had anticipated – prompting her midwives to actually miss much of her labor.
