Michael Redmon, 51, has been charged with criminal abuse after he allegedly left his wife Sherrie Redmon, 48, trapped inside his truck outside their home in Frankfort, about 55 miles east of Louisville, for five days.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Redmon’s wife, who is disabled and struggles with cognitive abilities, had asked him to take her to the hospital on July 12.

Redmon allegedly refused to remove her from the truck or take her to hospital until July 17.

Authorities say Redmon, who is his wife’s caretaker, repeatedly ignored her cries for help.

By the time he took her to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, the sheriff’s office said Sherrie was ‘actually stuck to the seat’.

Nurses found Sherrie covered in her own urine and feces. They said it was leaking out of the passenger side door of the truck.

Sherrie was also covered in sores and nurses noted that her skin was ‘deteriorating’ in places.

Hospital staff said they had to call Frankfort EMS so they could get Sherri out of the truck with a medical lift.

Authorities could not confirm the extent of Sherrie’s disabilities but did say that she had trouble walking.

‘We responded to the hospital because they were so concerned about her body and the condition she was in,’ a spokesman for the sheriff’s office told DailyMail.com.

The sheriff’s office said gangrene had set in on several locations across her body and that she has several extreme open sores.

Sherrie remains in hospital undergoing treatment.

Her husband was charged with first-degree criminal abuse and is currently being held in the Franklin County Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.

A court date has not yet been set, according to online records.
