Marsai Martin wins the young stars award at the 20th annual BET Awards, which was held on June 26, 2022 at the Microsoft Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The 17-year-old posted on Instagram in excitement about her win, “No words (fr I lost my train of thought lmao) huge thanks to the entire team at @bet for the consistent love and support every year. No one celebrates black people and our culture the way that y’all do.”

The talented teen has been nominated in the same category for a total of five times, and she has won four of those in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The Young Stars Award is given to those who have made an impact in the world of television, film, music, or sports. And Martin has unquestionably made an impact in at least two of the four of those categories.

Other nominees in the category, in addition to Martin, included: Storm Reid, Demi Singleton, Akira Akbar, Saniyya Sidney, and former Black-ish co-star, Miles Brown.

We have all watch Martin grow into an incredibly talented young woman before our eyes. She started out on the hit ABC show, Black-ish, in 2014, portraying Diane Johnson until the show ended in 2022.

The talented teen morphed right before our eyes from simply being seen in front of the camera to being behind it and having a seat at the table with the creation of her production company, Genius Productions. Martin produced her first feature-length film, Little, at the helm of her company. This accomplishment not only gave her the title as the youngest Hollywood executive producer, this accomplishment landed her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as well.

Most recently, Martin has taken entrepreneurship into the world of beauty as she has released her own a nail care line, Mari by Marsai, of which, she attributes the line to being an “expression of herself through nails.”

She writes about her inspiration for the company on their website by saying, “I’m an artist at heart, and expressing myself through nails has always been a huge source of creativity for me. Having a fresh set of nails makes me feel like I am empowered to take on anything and I’ve created these designs to share that feeling with you.”

And if you thought that that was it for the Texas-native, you were wrong. She is in the process of working on another production, in conjunction with Disney, entitled, Saturday’s

Congratulations, Marsai. We cannot wait to see what is next on your agenda!
