One of the country’s largest Asian supermarket chains, 99 Ranch Market, is now gearing up to open its first New York outlet at a mall in Long Island this week.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, 99 Ranch Market officially announced that it will be holding its soft opening at Long Island’s Samanea New York Mall on Thursday and Friday, April 7 and 8, before launching its grand opening on Saturday, April 9.

The Saturday event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m., followed by the outlet’s grand opening at 9 a.m. The event will also feature a lion dance and a DJ performance.

The Asian supermarket chain plans on giving away goodie bags to its first 100 customers on each day of its grand opening weekend. Any customer who spends $50 will reportedly receive a special gift.

99 Ranch attaches great importance to its very first store in New York,” the Asian grocery chain said in a statement on Tuesday. “It is determined to bring the culture of Asia to the unparalleled location, the village of Westbury, which is accessible to everything that Long Island and New York have to offer.”

Aside from its grocery, produce, live seafood and meat sections, the new outlet will have other sections, including a bakery, a hot deli and a food court.

The supermarket chain, which currently has 56 stores across the U.S., was founded by Taiwanese-born American Roger Chen in Westminster, California, in 1984.

Its latest outlet is purportedly the “second-largest anchor tenant” at the Samanea New York Mall after its Dave & Buster’s, and it will take up around 45,000 square feet. The supermarket chain reportedly signed a 15-year lease in April 2020 and began construction in January 2021.
