Margaret Qualley says she supports FKA twigs on her lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, stating that she believes her allegations of mental and physical abuse against the actor.

Qualley, 26, spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about the unsavoury accusations aimed at LaBeouf, who she once dated, as she covered their October issue, claiming: ‘It was important to me for her to know that I believe her.’

The interview comes as FKA (stage name of Tahliah Debrett Barnett), 33, sued LaBeouf, who Margaret previously dated, for sexual battery, assault and the infliction of emotional distress in December.

Despite never making any allegations against their mutual ex herself, The Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood star said to the publication: ‘It was important to me for her to know that I believe her—and it’s as simple as that.’

The up-and-coming actress has been preparing herself to portray the fallout of emotional abuse of her character in the upcoming series Maid.

‘Unfortunately, it’s so common. And it’s true that more than half of people experience some level of psychological threat within a relationship in their lifetime,’ she said.

‘I just did my best to read the script and experience Alex’s reality as much as possible within the scenes.’

The former ballerina is playing this emotionally vulnerable role alongside her actual mother on-screen – an experience she found to be a genuine one.

‘When you walk into a room and your mom is there, that does something to you. Not only do you have permission to touch her like family, but rolling your eyes is a built-in response in the same way that tearing up from a well-timed hug is.’

The relationship she forged with child-star Rylea Nevaeh Whittet, four, who plays her daughter on the show, was also a touching experience.

‘Besides acting with my mom, the relationship with Rylea really hit me the hardest. When she’s asleep in my arms, that was happening for real.’

‘Having a little four-year-old cling on to you and need you is such a wild and special experience’ – an experience she hopes to have one day with children of her own, she told the publication.

‘I’ve always dreamt of getting married. There’s a girly-girl part of me that’s thought about what my wedding would be like. And I’ve dreamt of having kids. I’m a real romantic in that way.’

Her cover-shoot comes as Margaret previously broke her silence about the abuse allegations brought against her recent ex.

Taking to Instagram to offer her gratitude to FKA after she spoke publicly about her allegedly abusive relationship, the Emmy nominee posted an image of the Magdalene artist’s March cover of Elle, simply captioning the post: ‘Thank you.’

Margaret was first romantically linked to LaBeouf, 34, in December, around the time FKA first made the allegations.

She and the former Disney Channel star met when they starred together in the NSFW music video for Love Me Like You Hate Me by Rainsford, also known as Margaret’s big sister Rainey Qualley, 30.

They subsequently called it quits weeks later in early January, when a source told People: ‘They’re just in different places in their lives.’

Another insider said Qualley was aware of the ‘backlash’ she received, after she continued dating LaBeouf, amid the accusations of sexual and physical assault.

According to Us Weekly, her Golden Globe-winning mother Andie MacDowell, 62, was ‘keeping an extremely close watch on the situation,’ as a source said: ‘If Shia so much as puts a foot out of line, she’ll come down on him like a ton of bricks.’

It comes after LaBeouf denied ‘each and every allegation’ in FKA’s lawsuit, issuing a statement to The New York Times, before seeking long-term inpatient treatment.

He continued: ‘I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.

‘I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.’

The actor, who has ‘denied each and every allegation’, is said to have signed on to play the lead in Abel Ferrara’s next feature film, despite his ongoing legal woes.

Ferrara told Variety the Shia-starring film will ‘center on the younger years of Italian Saint Padre Pio,’ with the actor portraying the Padre in his youth.
