The bassist of No Doubt, Tony Kanal, has been granted a temporary restraining order over a man who trespassed on his property who reportedly believes Heath Ledger is alive and living there.

The 51-year-old musician filed for a restraining order over a man named George Leonardopoulos who he claims has terrorized his family over the past few months with impromptu visits at his Los Angeles area home according to documents obtained by TMZ on Monday.

Perhaps the most alarming thing was an incident last week where Leonardopoulos came to their front gate and buzzed the intercom to tell Kanal’s wife Erin Lokitz that he used to live there with the previous owner of the property actor Heath Ledger.

The bandmate of Gwen Stefani said in the documents that he had purchased the home from Ledger in 2005 before the actor’s death in 2008 and that Leonardopoulos apparently did live at the house and strangely told them that he thinks Ledger is still alive on the premises.

As if that wasn’t bizarre enough, according to TMZ’s documents  Leonardopoulos claimed it was gravely important to be let into their garage so he could ‘wake’ Heath.

He apparently told them if ‘you know what’s good for you, you would let me in’ according to the legal documents.

Kanal claims that Leonardopoulos has been making unannounced and unwelcome visits to his home since late January and has even hopped the gate on one occasion.

The bassist and his wife also say they have seen the suspect wielding a large stick and knife and that they have called law enforcement on him in the past.

A judge signed off on a restraining order on Friday and it will take effect until a hearing later this month.

As a result Leonardopoulos will have to stay 100 yards from the Kanal family and their property until a judge makes a final ruling.

Perhaps the weirdest bit of happenstance is that today, April 4 would have been Ledger’s 43rd birthday.

The Oscar-winning A Dark Knight star was found dead aged 28 on January 22, 2008 as an autopsy later found that he had died ‘as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine.’
