Halle Berry changed up her hair for the 2021 Oscars.
The “John Wick” actress, 54, stepped out on the red carpet dressed in a berry-hued Dolce & Gabbana gown, debuting a choppy new bob with short bangs.
Prior to the show, Berry shared a picture of her shorn locks on the floor, teasing the fresh look for followers.
However, not everyone was loving the short cut. Some questioned if she chopped her strands herself, while the final look also drew Josh Harnett and “Fleabag” comparisons.
Berry isn’t afraid of dramatic hair changes; in 2019, she attended the debut of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” with an edgy undercut.
The controversial new style could be a nod to Berry’s infamous pixie cut, which she’s credited for her big break.
“I think that was because the directors and producers actually saw me,” Berry has said in the past. “Before that, I had long hair like every other girl like me. When I got this haircut, I felt like my best self.”
Berry, who remains the first and only black woman to have won the Academy Award for Best Actress, is one of many A-list presenters for the 2021 ceremony, joining Brad Pitt, Zendaya, Harrison Ford and more.
